How FMCG Distributors Can Improve Their Profit?

FMCG Distribution

Distribution Strategy for FMCG Products

FMCG, which stands for Fast Moving Consumer Goods, tend to be priced on the lower end of the spectrum, have leaner margins and higher volumes, unlike durable consumer goods. Some products falling under the FMCG distribution categories are detergent company products, soft drinks, food and beverages, soap, domestic cleaning supplies, beauty care products, personal care products, cosmetics and so on. These products (including detergent company product) are found in a wider variety of retail outlets, including convenient stores and drugstores, where they can “fly off the shelves”, as the saying goes. FMCG company often faces distribution challenges in India, given the steep competition.

Many FMCG brands have a streamlined distribution system and sales channel, in both metropolitan and rural areas to transfer products to retailers and eventually, the end customers.

However, with the sheer number of products in the FMCG category, competition is fierce and you need to have a distribution strategy for FMCG products. For FMCG distributors to improve their profits, and to ensure that their products can successfully make a sale they need to develop a well-defined marketing and distribution strategy. You need to apply certain sales promotion techniques for FMCG products. FMCG sales techniques include scouring the market for competition, as this helps hone your business strategies.

Here are Some Tips:

1. Know Your Competition

Knowing your competition is one of the best ways to keep ahead of the trends. It lets you make smart decisions. In other words, avoid getting lost. Find out where your competitors are and how they market and sell. Create a strategy which is unique to your business. Find out where their channels of distributions and sales lie. This information can help you make a wise decision. For instance, when deciding to introduce a product in a certain area, if no products of your competitors are found, then it is a wise decision to find out why your competitors aren’t found in that particular region. Which brings us to the next point.

2. Market Research

Of course, knowing your competition is rarely as simple as counting the number of competing businesses. You will need to do in-depth research in order to learn how much your competitors are selling and how well they are doing; whether they are ramping up products and introducing new formulations; what price points and branding they are using; and what kind of volumes and margins they are generating. Once you have a reasonably good picture of the competition, you can begin to map out the best strategy to use for your business accordingly.

3. Customer Service

Excellent customer service is one of the keys to improving business profits. Satisfied customers make for one of the best word-of-mouth – make good customer service a priority. Your profit success relies on it. When a customer leaves good feedback, it creates a domino effect –customers will look for your product and in turn, leave amazing feedback. Here is the caveat – your customer service and product need to be exceptional if you want to be successful.

Examine your current customer service scenario and make tweaks in the process wherever required. Ensure you are communicating to your customer at every stage of the sales cycle. Ensure that your business is providing service superior to that of your competitors. This can be achieved by investing in staff training, revamping your policy, or basic improvements such as talking politely and helpfully with customers. Make sure your customer experience team responds promptly to voice mail or email from customers.

They Focus on Quality Over Quantity

Use high-quality ingredients that reflect in your products. Use locally sourced non-toxic chemicals and azo-free ingredients – this will cut your expenses. Not only that, it is safe for the consumers and is eco-friendly. Maintain the highest of quality standards – review this policy continuously and strive to be the best. Monitor the products and their utilization, like specific ingredient formulation that are biodegradable, and maximize cost savings.

Are You a Cleaning Products Manufacturer? Here are 5 Tricks to be Good at it!

Household Cleaning Products Manufacturers

How to Run a Successful Cleaning Business?

Household cleaning products manufacturers must supply the product that is the best fit for the consumer. In the end, everything is a matter of customer satisfaction: domestic house cleaning products that are too smelly or don’t disinfect properly can lead to poor results both for the consumer and the household cleaning products manufacturer.

Cleaning products manufacturers in India must focus on delivering quality and quantity to their customers – not to mention brand dissatisfaction if the promise is not delivered properly, leading to poor customer experience. This is a tough battle, given the stiff completion – cleaning chemicals manufacturers have it rough! We all want the best product for the money, and lots of cleaning chemicals manufacturers are out there, clamoring for the first place. Here is how to pave your way to success:

1. Make Green Your Color of Choice –Focus on Manufacturing Products that are Eco-Friendly

The goal of a good cleaning products manufacturer in India should be to provide their consumers with products that have a superior cleaning performance, while simultaneously eliminating the harmful effects of toxins and chemicals on the ecosystem. Make a commitment to lead, innovate, and research. Invest in environment-friendly cleaning chemicals in housekeeping. Phosphates and other chemicals, which are used in detergent products and other domestic cleaning supplies can dangerously deplete oxygen levels and cause algae to grow. This can lead to the death of aquatic life. Many conventional detergent liquids for home and commercial use are loaded with chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. Go green by coming up with products that are eco-friendly. What’s more, these detergent cleaning liquids are equally as effective in removing dirt and grimes as the commercial grade ones. It makes a great choice for those who are environmentally conscious, as they are specially formulated without azo dyes, sulfates, phosphates or preservatives. It’s a great choice for those with extra-sensitive skin or those with allergies.

2. Say no to Animal Testing

Morally conscientious and ethical manufacturers say no to animal testing. When formulating a new product, have it tested with humane means – opt for methods that don’t involve animal testing. Have a compassionate approach that is humane and more relevant to humans.

3. Offer Quality Over Quantity

Many detergent manufacturers make this rookie mistake – they offer quantity over quality. Instead, focus on how to provide your customers with the quality that they deserve. Don’t compromise on the quality of your products. Choose to invest in quality eco-friendly and toxin-free ingredients for your products. Wherever possible, take advantage of the latest technology to create formulations that use very less water in the manufacturing process, thereby saving millions of gallons of water. Maintain the strictest of quality standards. Make use of easily biodegradable non-toxic chemicals and azo-free ingredients that poses no or minimal threat to the environment. Put your customer and environment first.

4. Best Price

Prices for cleaning supplies may vary, depending on the ingredients used and the durability of the products, but have what’s best for consumers in mind. Tailor your products to be the best for home use and price them competitively. You will gain an edge in the market.

5. Innovate, Lead and Grow

In order to build a sustainable business, you have to be innovative and cutting edge. Keep abreast of current trends in technology. Add value to your existing products to differentiate the business from your competition and increase the perceived value to your consumers. Innovation is crucial to your organization’s long-term success. Know your worth. Also, do not be afraid to take criticism and be open to feedback and sharing new ideas.

5 Bad DishWashing Habits That Can Drive Your Health Crazy

Bulk Dish Washing Liquid

Dishwashing Habits

Avoid these dishwashing mistakes the next time you are cleaning up

You have had a long day taking care of kids, carting them off to school, a long day at work and you cooked dinner for the whole family. Now all you want to do is sit on the couch, put on Netflix and relax with a steaming hot cup of cocoa. Instead, you get up to wash the dishes.

This is an everyday scenario for most people. Hand washing dishes is still a chore for those who don’t own a dishwasher. One of the most sanitary ways to wash dishes by hand is to spruce up your sink – the place where dishes get washed. Also, you need to follow a proper order for washing dishes by hand.

Doing the dishes tends to be one of the most dreaded tasks. Hence, one tends to rush through it and allow room for mistakes. These mistakes can be relatively harmless, but soon germs could spread to make your dishes dirtier and unclean. Read on to know more.

1.Letting Dishes Pile Up

Most of us have been guilty of letting the dishes pile up one time or another. This is a breeding ground for bacteria and harmful germs. Keep in mind that bacteria can stay alive for up to four days on your used dishes. This can spread to other kitchen surfaces. Not to mention, the crusted-on cheese makes the whole washing process more difficult. You need to follow the proper order for washing dishes by hand. If you really don’t want to clean as you go, at least rinse it once and place it where any spare germs will be contained.

2.Using Too Much (bulk) Dishwashing Liquid

One of the most sanitary ways to wash dishes by hand is to soak it in a warm dishwashing solution and then rinse it. Have you ever pulled a utensil out of your kitchen cabinet and it looked cloudy and white? Check your soap usage as you could be using too much detergent. This can leave a sticky residue on your dishes, so stick to a safe amount of liquid detergent if you are washing by hand.

3.Drying With a Dirty or Used Towel

Letting your dishes air-dry after washing is the best way to clean and get rid of those pesky germs. That towel that has been hanging by the sink from forever is not a good choice to drying your dishes, as it is and will be a breeding ground for bacteria. You can either let your dishes air dry or be sure to swap out towels frequently.

4.Water Temperature

If sterilizing your dishes is on your agenda, then the perfect temperature is about 50 to 60 degree Celsius. But your hands won’t be able to tolerate such a high temperature. Your best bet would be to use lukewarm water, which will effectively lather up the detergent liquid as well. It wouldn’t kill bacteria but displace the germs effectively. If you want to sterilize certain dishes, you can do so by keeping it submerged in hot water for 5 minutes.

5.Washing Your Dishes With a Sponge

Kitchen sponges harbor harmful bacteria and germs. In fact, they may even be the dirtiest thing in your house, second only to your toilet! Kitchen hygiene and sanitation is the need of the hour. Instead, opt for a dishwashing brush which can be cleaned and dried completely after each use. If you absolutely must use a sponge, at least change it weekly and keep in clean in between by boiling it in water.

Methods to Test Your Dish Wash Quality

Dish Wash Liquid Manufacturers

Dish Washing Liquid Methods

Whether you wash your dishes regularly or wash the bulk of them in a dishwasher, having a domestic cleaning supply that works well means less work for you.

Here are a few methods to test the quality before buying bulk dishwashing liquid:

1. The Scrub Test

Take a pre-soiled dish, preferably one that is grubby with rice starch, egg yolk stains, and cheese.

Soak it in a warm solution of your preferred domestic cleaning supply for 10 minutes before scrubbing it with a wet sponge or stainless-steel scrub. Wipe it clean with a dishcloth. Check how clean your dish is and answer the following questions:

  • Is your dish fully clean?
  • Is your dish shiny?
  • Is your dish sparkling?
  • Does it have a nice aroma?
  • Did the dishwashing liquid wash completely off your dish?
  • Does it work well in cold water?
  • Did it require minimal scrubbing on your part?

If the answer to the above questions is a “yes”, then the dishwashing liquid is of good quality, and it is safe to buy bulk dishwashing liquid of that brand.

2. The Foam Test

Using a small amount of dishwashing liquid in a large quantity of water, wash your grubby and grimy dishes and count the number of dishes cleaned until all the foam in the basin disappears. This test is based on the fact that dish wash liquid manufacturers use cleaning agents called surfactants that are better at creating foam. This doesn’t always mean that they clean better. You must check whether the dishwashing liquid is equally good at removing dirt and grime from the dishes. Foam doesn’t necessarily equate better performance. That is why it is important to check whether the foamy dishwashing liquid is good for removing the grimy dishes as well.

Rather than measuring the foam in your washing up water, you must watch out how well the cleaning liquid cleans. This test will actually show you how well the detergent removes greasy dirt from your dishes. do not count out foam completely though, it is still important as it helps prevent dirt, oil, and food scraps from being redistributed on your plates. However, grime removal is ultimately the best indication of top-performing dishwashing detergent.

Overall weight should be given to the scrub test.

Is The Dishwashing Liquid Environmentally Friendly?

More and more home cleaning products manufacturer in India are becoming environmentally conscious nowadays—which is a good thing. Dish wash liquid manufacturers are coming up with formulations that are eco-friendly and azo free. The problems posed by chemical detergents are solved by biodegradable detergents. There is a growing market for eco-friendly products nowadays and such biodegradable detergents in India are preferred by the environmentally conscious.

Is your dishwashing liquid environmentally friendly? This is one of the most important questions you need to ask yourself. A step in the eco-friendly direction is good for you as well as for our earth.

Biodegradable dishwashing detergents are great for washing and have a pleasant aroma too, due to the natural ingredients used. It does not harm your hands. Moreover, it poses minimal threat to the environment as it decomposes within a couple of months. These detergents contain active ingredients that are safe to use. They protect your dishwashing appliance as well. Such cleaning products are effective in cold water and thus saving energy.

Are You Making These 4 Hand Washing Mistakes?

Importance of Hand Washing

Importance of Hand Washing

Never underestimate the benefits of washing hands. Not washing your hands properly can leave you vulnerable to germs. Lathering up is one of the best things you can do to prevent the spread of infectious germs. Make sure you are not making these common handwashing mistakes.

You Don’t Scrub Your Hands Long Enough

A Michigan State University study found that only about 5 percent of people wash their hands properly—that means over 95 percent of people don’t wash hands long enough to effectively remove germs. In order to effectively kill germs, you need to scrub your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, if not more.

Soap won’t help remove germs if you rinse it off immediately. You need to scrub for at least 20 to 30 seconds. Rub both your palms together, the backs of your hands, and in between your fingers. One overlooked spot is under your fingernails. Fingernails tend to pick up dirt and trap bacteria and viruses. Make sure to clean under them too. Cover all sides of both sets of fingers.

Dangers from not Washing Hands

It may seem harmless to skip handwashing at times. But failing to wash your hands, especially after using the bathroom can leave you susceptible to harmful germs. Here is a hand washing fact—if you decide to leave the bathroom without a wash that means you will be dragging out the germs you picked up from the door lock, toilet flusher, and other surfaces. And worse, you will deposit those germs onto anything or anyone you subsequently touch. The skin makes for a good barrier between you and the germs. But mucosal areas like your mouth, eyes, and genitals are more porous. So, when you touch your face or privates with your unwashed hands, chances of germs being transferred to those areas increase manifold. And not to mention the spread of infectious diseases through contact.

Also, you should wash your hands before eating or preparing a meal, so the food doesn’t get contaminated either.

You Don’t Use Soap or Liquid Handwash

Soap does a lot more than just lathering up your hands and making them smell nice. Soap (or liquid soap) is specially formulated to lift germs and dirt off your skin. The science behind this is that the surfaces of bacteria and viruses are partially made of fatty materials. The ingredients in soap create a chemical reaction that grabs onto the germs, so they are rinsed off—in other words, displaced—with the lather.

Alcohol-based formulations can kill more germs much faster than plain soap. You can choose to use soap or liquid handwash—both are equally effective. The thing with liquid soap is that it is less likely to be contaminated. So, whichever you choose, make sure to use some form of soap while washing your hands.

If you are in a pinch, a hand sanitizer can help too. Make sure it is more than 60% alcohol. However, even the best hand sanitizers tend to be less effective on super-dirty hands. That is why good old soap and water is always the better choice.

You Don’t Dry Off Completely

If you are not drying your hands completely after washing, it is a job half done. Germs flourish in a damp environment, so even if you have used soap and water, you make yourself vulnerable to contamination if you don’t dry your hands thoroughly. Use a clean towel to dry your hands. Use paper towels whenever you can—that way, you can just dry off your hands and dispose of the paper towel without the need for airdrying it. A damp towel becomes a harbor for germs, so your best bet is to use disposable paper towels.

After you have dried off your hands, do not touch bathroom surfaces. Faucets, countertops and other bathroom surfaces are breeding grounds for harmful bacteria. Use a clean paper towel to close the faucet and open the bathroom door, especially if it is a public restroom.

Importance of Handwashing in Infection Control

Handwashing—Why is it So Important?

Several infectious diseases can spread from one person to another through contaminated hands. Among these infections include salmonella infection and respiratory infections which can be deadly, especially for young children, the elderly, or those with a weakened immune system. This can be prevented from happening if you just wash your hands regularly. The simple act of washing hands with soap and water displaces the bacteria on your hands, thereby preventing the spread of infections. Washing your hands is of the best way to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. If done properly, it can help prevent the spread of the germs.

When to Wash Your Hands?

You should wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, especially after:

  • Using the toilet or changing pads/tampons
  • Using public conveyance
  • Handling garbage or working in the garden
  • Doing household chores like cleaning the bathroom
  • Handling / working with animals
  • Smoking
  • Sneezing

You must also wash your hands thoroughly:

  • Before, during and after preparing food, especially after handling meat and fish
  • Before eating
  • Before and after attending to people who are sick

How to Wash Your Hands Properly?

  • Always use running water.

Tips to Follow While Washing Hands

For infection prevention and control, always favor running water over a basin full of standing water. This is because it could easily become contaminated through use. It is better to use warm water, as soap lathers well with warm water. However, cold water is still suitable.

Using soap is important—washing hands with soap and water will remove/displace germs substantially than washing hands with water alone. For people who are sensitive to soap—note that pH may be the problem. In such cases, it is better to use a liquid soap which has a neutral pH.

Ways to Prevent Infection

Handwashing is only on part of the equation—taking care of your skin is equally important, as your skin is your most effective barrier against infection. After washing hands, give some tender loving care by applying water-based hand cream—do it more frequently if your hands are constantly in contact with water. This is an effective strategy for infection prevention and control. Additionally, follow the tips below:

  • Use gloves to wash dishes to protect your hands from germs and domestic cleaning supplies.
  • Use gloves when gardening to prevent scratches—watch out for tetanus-causing germ. Tetanus is caused by a toxin made the bacterial spores, Clostridium tetani, which is majorly found in soil, dust and animal feces. When these spores enter a deep flesh wound, they grow into bacteria that can produce a powerful toxin, which leads to fatal disease.
  • Consult a doctor if you develop a skin irritation—never ignore any symptoms of infection, however insignificant it may be.
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if you are not within the reach of soap and water. It is the next best alternative to washing hands. Rub the sanitizer all over your hands. Concentrate under your fingernails and between your fingers.
  • If you are sick, stay away from other people or stay home. Don’t shake hands or touch others.
  • Make sure your health care providers clean their hands or wear gloves before examining you. Doctors, nurses, dentist, and other health care providers encounter lots of bacteria and viruses. So, before they treat you, ask them if they have cleaned their hands. It is your right. If they are performing tasks such as blood, touching wounds or body fluids and examining your mouth or private parts, they should wear gloves.

The Real Reason Your Dishwash Does Not work

Cleaning Products Manufacturers

The primary purpose of dishwashing liquids is to remove germs, food particles and residues from kitchenware surfaces, including dishes, pots, pans, utensils and a wide range of other utensils. Now picture this – you have purchased bulk dishwashing liquid and you find that it is not cleaning properly. What could be the reason and how do you fix it? This is a very common problem that many households face. How do you rectify this issue? Read on to find out!

The primary reason why your domestic cleaning supply is not doing its job might be because of the water hardness in your area. The dishwashing liquid might not be the culprit. Check to see if the water supply you get is hard. Buy a dishwash liquid which has adequate builders.

Water hardness is caused by the presence of mineral salts in the water, and that can leave an unsightly mineral residue on your dishes over time. Builders deal with hard-water molecules during the cleaning process, allowing surfactants to do their job of removing dirt, oils, and grime easily.

Though they get a bad rep in the domestic cleaning supplies industry, surfactants are an important component in the cleaning process. A product having surfactants will do a much easier job of cleaning the dishes than a product which doesn’t have any such ingredient. Also known as wetting agents, these are primarily cleaning or foaming agents. Surfactants give the liquid ability to adhere to and remove dirt and grime from dishes. In other words, surfactants do all the heavy-duty work. Nowadays, cleaning products manufacturers in India use surfactants that are safe for your home as well as the environment.

While shopping for bulk dishwashing liquid, look for products that contain ingredients that are plant-based, as opposed to petroleum-based. Plant-based cleaning liquids are gentle and do a good job of cleaning. Most organic dishwashing liquid contains ingredients like coconut oil or olive oil.

Look for cleaning supplies that have a good working enzyme in it. Enzymes are naturally occurring proteins—a culture of bacteria that produce enzymes. This important ingredient helps break down and digest scum and grease build up into smaller pieces, which makes them easier to remove. These enzymes are responsible for cleaning effectively.

Be considerate and wary of the ingredients of the products you purchase. Know your ingredients and make it a point to always read the label before buying anything. Also, keep in mind that safe storage is vital for all domestic cleaning products, especially if you have little kids running around. Always make sure you store your domestic cleaning supplies in a baby-proof shelf, because even products that may seem safe can be dangerous.

Are You Compromising Your Health By Skipping Handwash?

benefits of washing hands

You’ve probably heard it from your mom many times: ‘Wash your hands!” And if you are a parent or a spouse, you likely say this a lot as well! Are you conscious of germs on your hands? The importance of hand washing has been taught to us since we were young.

Washing your hands should be something that comes naturally to you. Our hands receive tons of abuse from us each day—everything you do is with your hands! For instance, think of the number of times you touch your phone. And just for a fact, a phone screen contains a larger number of germs compared to a public toilet seat (yikes!).

As we go about our day, all of us unknowingly pick up germs that can make us sick—in some cases severely sick. Then without even noticing as we are so much used to it, we use those same seemingly clean hands to rub our eyes or wipe our face. What happens then? You have provided an easy way for germs sneak in and cause problems with our body.

Do you wash your hands frequently? Do you wash them after using the bathroom or touching raw meat? If your answer to both these questions is a “No” then read on. If you don’t wash your hands, here is what can happen.

You Will Get Sick Recurrently

Expect to get sick more often if you don’t wash your hands. The less you wash your hands, the greater the germs build upon them. Hence, you risk exposing yourself to more diseases and infections. One can argue that this will help build your immunity, but that is not always the case. Some nasty bug is bound to get in your body and wreak havoc sooner or later. Spending thirty seconds in washing your hands properly (note the importance of hand washing) might not seem an exciting prospect but the benefits of washing hands will definitely pay off.

You Could Inadvertently Spread Germs

If getting sick was not bad enough, you also risk spreading germs wherever you go. Once you get sick, it’s easy to spread that to people around you. When washing hands, you are not only doing yourself a favor but to others as well.

Note: when you feel the flu coming, and need to sneeze or cough, do not do it into your hand but into the side of your arm to prevent the germs from spreading through touch.

Which brings us to the next most important points which is—
You could seriously infect someone with a compromised immune system

Develop a habit of washing your hands, as it will not only help you but others as well. When you don’t wash your hands, you risk spreading the germs, which means people who have a compromised immune system are put at risk. Your actions could end up causing someone serious harm. Newborn babies and elderly can’t fight off diseases the same way most people can. If you don’t wash your hands, you might end up infecting someone who has a compromised immune system, and this could include infants.

You Could Inadvertently Give Yourself Food Poisoning

Love meat? Love not washing your hands after handling your favorite meat? Well, say hello to food poisoning! Most foodborne illnesses are spread by touching food that is contaminated and washing hands afterward. As a result, you may risk getting food posing that will have you bedridden (or, ahem, bathroom-ridden!).

Salmonella and E. coli are the most common forms bacteria that cause food poisoning, and the best way to prevent a severe case brought on by these pesky germs is to always wash your hands after handling raw food.

Could Hand Sanitizer Be an Alternative?

This is an oft-debated topic—whether using hand sanitizer is as good as washing hands. Here is the deal—a hand sanitizer is a good alternative in circumstances where you cannot wash your hands, but it is not a permanent solution, and you certainly should not forgo handwashing in lieu of hand sanitizing. Using a sanitizer doesn’t kill as much bacteria as washing hands with soap and water. It is good to carry a hand sanitizer on-the-go, but always a good practice to wash your hands with soap and water after using the bathroom, touching raw meat, or before handling food.
